Beware the knives in your drawer

I am appalled at the number of knife stabbings that have been reported in the media over the last several weeks. It is obvious that we need strong legislation to control knives. I suggest that we require all knives to have a serial number inscribed on the handles. All knives need to be registered. Every home or other facility that has one or more knives on premises should be required to register as a “Knife Storage Facility.”

A license to own a knife should be required of all individuals proposing to own one. We should require a safety lock on every drawer that will contain a knife.

In addition, background checks need to be performed before any individual or business is allowed to purchase a knife, along with a three day waiting period. We need a limit on who may possess a knife. No one under the age of 14 should be permitted to purchase or own a knife.

We need strong legislation, licensing and training for anyone planning on carrying a concealed knife on their person.

I suggest that if Mr. Rauner is elected governor that he get permission from Mr. Madigan to put into place the above law and restrictions.
