Apply for associate judgeship

Applicants are sought to fill an associate judge vacancy in Lake County circuit court. The post is vacant due to the promotion of Mitchell Hoffman to a full circuit judge. He was sworn in Monday. The full circuit judges will vote to select the new associate. Any lawyer who seeks appointment to the office of associate judge must be a U.S. citizen, licensed to practice law in Illinois and a resident of the 19th Judicial Circuit that includes the Lake County courts. Applications must be sent to Michael J. Tardy, director, Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, 3101 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield, Ill. 62704-6488. The deadline is March 5. Applications may be obtained from the chief judge’s office at the Lake County courthouse or downloaded from the Illinois Supreme Court’s website at state.il.us/court. Applications may not be submitted electronically or via facsimile.
