Aurora garage fire under investigation

An investigation is under way into the cause of a garage fire that erupted Saturday in Aurora, causing about $95,000 in damage to the structure and its contents, officials said.

Fire department officials said the blaze was reported about 6 a.m. by neighbors on the 900 block of Becker Lane on Aurora’s east side. No injuries to the residents or firefighters were reported.

Everything inside the detached garage was totaled, officials said, including two motorcycles and a luxury truck, according to the fire department. Lt. Craig Mateski said the 2008 Cadillac Escalade and the two vintage motorcycles were valued at a combined $75,000, while the structure damage was pegged at $20,000.

Officials said the garage was engulfed in flames as four fire companies arrived. Investigators are investigating what caused the fire, which caused just minor damage after spreading to the house next to it.
