WIU fundraising campaign raises $62.1 million

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois University says it raised just over the $60 million it set out to generate during a recently completed fundraising campaign.

University President Jack Thomas said Wednesday the Higher Values in Higher Education campaign pulled in $62.1 million by the time it ended on Dec. 31.

Western plans to use the money to help pay for, among other things, scholarships, faculty pay, capital expenditures and information and technology needs.

WIU Foundation Executive Officer Brad Bainter said much of the money is also being used to build up the university’s endowment. It grew with the campaign from $16 million to about $55 million.
