Hanover Park Chamber of Commerce unveils new award

Despite its diverse population, the Hanover Park business community has never celebrated local companies who work to hire minorities.

The village’s chamber of commerce executive director wanted to change all that.

Andrea Fox is working on marketing strategies that finally promote, not ignore, the village’s diverse makeup.

She started the “Multi-Cultural Businesses Making A Difference” award, an honor that went to four area businesses during a chamber breakfast this week: Round Ground Metals, J.C. Restoration Inc., Hanover Park Animal Care Center and La Michoacana.

Most are run by first-generation families.

“Hanover Park Chamber of Commerce wanted to recognize those successful companies who have embraced the diversity of our nation, become successful and are making a difference in the lives of those who live and work in Hanover Park,” Fox said in an email.

Up next for the chamber are networking lunches with business tips delivered in both Spanish and English.
