The recent "Polar Vortex," multiple snow and ice storms, and ongoing winter weather mess have made the first few weeks of the new year challenging, at best. In light of all of this, I wish to publicly thank Mundelein residents for their cooperation during all of the recent challenging storm events.
Thanks to them, our public works crew was able to complete all of their zones with minimal disruption and zero accidents involving village vehicles during the snow and ice control operations.
While our crews are known throughout Lake County as some of the most diligent when it comes to snow and ice control, we can only be as successful as our residents allow by making sure cars are not parked on the roads, keeping a safe distance from plow trucks, and staying off the roads as much as possible when the forecast calls for major snowfall.
The community stepped up again to help public works do their best, and we are very grateful for their cooperation. I'd also like to recognize Mundelein's public works staff for their commitment to completing the tasks at hand and for their professionalism. The crew worked 56 consecutive hours from Dec. 31 to Jan. 2 to make Mundelein roads as safe as possible. I applaud their dedication.
