Arlington Heights Park District Now Offers CrossFit Classes.

Arlington Heights area residents need to look no further than the Arlington Heights Park District (AHPD) to experience the top fitness trend of 2014.

The AHPD now offers CrossFit classes at Heritage Park, 506 West Victoria, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m., and Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. CrossFit was named the top fitness trend for 2014 by the American College of Sports Medicine in its annual survey of 3,800 fitness professionals who work in commercial, clinical, community and corporate gyms, and health clubs.

CrossFit classes deliver excellent results for beginners and advanced athletes through a unique mix of body weight, kettle bell, dumbbell, barbell, and plyometic movements. The training sessions are varied and challenging, and the nationally-certified CrossFit Axis performance coaches emphasize proper form and technique. Each small-group training class features a dynamic warm up; skill instruction, development and practice; a workout of the day; and mobility and stretching instruction.

Area residents new to CrossFit can try four classes over two consecutive weeks for free at CrossFit Axis at Heritage Park. The free class promotion is valid February 3 - 28. Visit eliteathletic.com for more information and to register for the free classes.

CrossFit Axis at Heritage Park is an joint initiative of the AHPD and Jim Inman and Karen Stoychoff Inman, area entrepreneurs and National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Coaches. The Inman's also own and operate Elite Athletic Development / CrossFit Arlington Heights, where they have logged more than 75,000 athlete training hours and helped hundreds of area residents achieve their health and fitness goals. The Inman’s previously collaborated with the AHPD on various health and fitness initiatives for community residents, including Fitness Boot Camps at Lake Arlington, Strength & Conditioning Workshops for Triathletes, Sports Conditioning for Student Athletes, and several nutrition education programs. The Inman's also organized the Arlington Classic Criterium professional bike race, the Northwest Community Healthcare Foundation Half-Marathon, the Salute, Inc. "got freedom?" Tactical Challenge, the Athena Classic and the Tandem Throwdown.
