Airport can be bigger cash cow for Wheeling

Dear President (Dean) Argiris: Why not take some of the tax burden off our residents and tap into one of the region’s greatest assets, Chicago Executive Airport? We could easily be adding several hundred thousand dollars annually by implementing landing fees to non-based aircraft.

According to Airnav.com 59 percent of operations are transient flights for Chicago Executive.

Other airports such as Santa Monica and Westfield-Barnes (MA) have implemented the plans successfully. Santa Monica uses Vector Airport Solutions out of Virginia to handle billing and collecting from GA aircraft operators. Why can’t this work for our airport?

As a longtime resident of Wheeling I appeal to you use your leadership role in our community to investigate this issue. I live directly in the flight path (Highland and Wolf) and would love to see Wheeling “ring the register” every time an out-of-town jet shoots over our house! Please check out www.vector-us.com for landing fee management.
