U.S. education secretary to make Chicago stop

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan is set to visit Chicago with a stop at a city school.

Duncan will visit Benito Juarez Community Academy on Monday and participate in a discussion with staff from the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. The topics will include work at the academy and progress toward increasing graduation rates, as well as access for Hispanics to postsecondary programs.

Students, parents and teachers are expected to join in.

The former head of Chicago Public Schools will also attend a dinner meeting at the Economic Club of Chicago and join Wendy Kopp for a moderated wide-ranging discussion on education issues. Kopp is CEO of Teach for All and founder of Teach for America. Business and civic leaders will attend the dinner.
