Beach passes offered:

For the first time, unlimited passes to the beach at Independence Grove Forest Preserve are being offered, Lake County Forest Preserve District officials announced in a news release. The pass allows holders unlimited use of the 400-foot sand beach along the south bay of Independence Grove’s 115-acre lake. Introductory rates: $49 for one person, $75 for two, $105 for three, $129 for four, $150 for five. All users on one pass must reside in the same household. This offer is available to Lake County residents only. Passes for the 2014 beach season can be purchased at the Independence Grove Visitors Center. The preserve entrance is on Buckley Road (Route 137) just east of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) and west of River Road. An adjacent beach house provides access to washrooms, showers and lockers. Beach is subject to unscheduled closings due to weather and water conditions. Call (847) 968-3499 for information.
