It is my opinion that there is only one rational way to solve nation's governance problem: dissolve both of the dominant political parties, Democrats and Republicans.
The Founders warned us about political parties becoming more important than rational governance of the nation. It appears we have reached that point. It's all about power and money in the halls of Congress.
By not voting for either of these two political parties, we will flick off the parasites that are sucking the life blood out of the republic. This has to go for state politics as well; the two parties have gerrymandered districts to ensure continued power. If we don't stop them at the state level, we will never stop them at the federal level. Doesn't matter who else we vote for. After all, could someone else be any worse? No more Democrats, no more Republicans -- enough is enough!
