Hanover Park man arrested in child solicitation sting

A Hanover Park man who authorities say offered to have sex with a girl while a member of her family watched faces indecent solicitation charges.

Andrew Kozar, 27, was ordered held on $250,000 bond Friday after a hearing at the Maywood courthouse.

Cook County prosecutors say Kozar placed the advertisement on Nov. 26 offering to have sex with any girl or woman. That same day, an officer with the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Child Exploitation Unit responded to the ad posing as the stepfather of an 8-year-old girl.

Over the next week, they exchanged more than 75 emails and text messages in which Kozar described in detail the sex acts he would commit with the girl while her “stepfather” watched, prosecutors said. Kozar agreed to meet the “stepfather” in Forest Park, where sheriff’s police arrested him.

If convicted, Kozar faces six to 30 years in prison. He next appears in a Maywood courtroom on Dec. 26.
