Drive-thru worker shot by pellet gun at Arlington Heights restaurant

An employee of an Arlington Heights restaurant suffered minor injuries Saturday night when shot in the face by a pellet gun while working in the business' drive-thru lane, police said.

Arlington Heights police say someone fired multiple shots from a pellet gun at the Portillo's restaurant, 806 W. Dundee Road, about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, striking the worker in the cheek. The employee declined medical attention at the scene, police said.

Another shot shattered a window on the south side of the restaurant and a third dented the bumper of a black 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, according to police. The shots may have come from a dark-colored Dodge Durango type vehicle parked near the neighboring Kohl's store, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting can submit an anonymous text tip by texting the keyword 847AHPD and a message to 847411 (tip411) or call Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers at (847) 590-STOP. Callers are guaranteed anonymity and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
