UIC trounces Wagner 94-76
ESTERO, Fla. — Kelsey Barlow sparked a second half run and finished with a career-high 38 points on Wednesday night to lead Illinois-Chicago to a 94-76 victory over Wagner for third place in the Gulf Coast Showcase.
Barlow’s point total set a tournament high and tied for third most in UIC’s program history. He had just set a career high with 17 against San Diego two nights ago in the opening round.
UIC (3-4) led Wagner 55-45 with 15:18 left. Barlow scored 21 points over the next 10 minutes as the Flames extended their lead to 90-59. Barlow also had seven rebounds, five assists and five 3-pointers.
Wagner (4-4) had five technical fouls, including two for head coach Bashir Mason, who was ejected with 6:17 remaining. The Seahawks’ leading scorer, Latif Rivers, got a technical in the second half while sitting on the bench — it was also his fourth foul.
