Safe shopping guide features recalled products
SPRINGFIELD (AP) — Attorney General Lisa Madigan is releasing her annual holiday “Safe Shopping Guide” which highlights recalled toys and other items that pose a hazard to families.
The 2013 edition of the guide features photos and descriptions of nearly 100 children’s products recalled in the last year.
It includes a warning to parents about the risks of shopping online at resale sites where recalled products are still being sold.
An informal survey of past shopping guides — in publication since 2007 — turned up several items for resale which had previously been recalled. They include the Fisher-Price Play `n’ Go Campsite figures — posing a choking hazard to young children — and McDonald’s “Shrek”-themed glasses with dangerous levels of a toxic chemical.
