Give pols Medicare, Social Security

Give pols Medicare, Social Security

I read with great interest the Daily Herald article of Nov. 8 concerning the IRS sending out $4 billion in fraudulent tax returns; 655 refunds to Lithuania to a single address and 343 to a single address in Shanghai, China. Now wouldn't you think that they would have a sophisticated enough program to red flag something like that?

Several years ago they sent me a letter that I did not report less than $10 of interest on a closed savings account, a statement which I never received from the bank. Now they were able to catch that, but never noticed this massive fraud going to the same addresses.

I don't know about anyone else but that article really boosts my faith in the workings of the IRS. Between that and the rampant Medicare/Medicade/Food Stamp fraud going on really boosts my faith in government in general. But what is their solution to all that: Let's cut Social Security and the cost of living calculation to balance the budget.

I think what really needs to happen is term limits for all political offices, and all political office holders should be put on Medicare and Social Security with all us peons. But I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Now add the Affordable Care Act mess to that and you can see how well government functions. They had over two years to get that program right and spent millions of dollars with the company that did the program and we have this colossal mess going on? There should be heads rolling for that fiasco.

I, for one, cannot wait for the next elections to come up. Incumbents beware.
