Man gets 14-year sentence for child pornography

SPRINGFIELD — A 24-year-old Springfield man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

The U.S, Attorney’s Office in central Illinois said Monday that Kievan R. Walters III also was sentenced to 25 years of supervised release after serving his prison time.

Walters pleaded guilty in July to one count of receiving child pornography. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sue Myerscough.

The case was part of a nationwide Department of Justice initiative to locate and prosecute people who use the Internet to exploit children.
