Car fire reported on I-290 near Thorndale exit

Traffic is getting through on outbound I-290 following an early morning car fire, NBC 5 is reporting.

The fire, at about 6:30 a.m., shut down lanes in both directions at the outbound ramp at Thorndale Avenue, near the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway.

The vehicle has been moved to the right shoulder and traffic is again getting through.

Injuries and cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
