Cubs release spring training schedule

With work still progressing on their $99 million spring training complex in Mesa, Ariz., the Chicago Cubs announced Monday that the first game at the new Cubs Park will take place Feb. 27 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Next spring the Cubs will play 16 home games at Cubs Park, 16 Cactus League road games, a pair of games in Las Vegas and two games against the Diamondbacks at Arizona's Chase Field to close out the training camp season.

The new facility in Mesa features a city park, 15,000-seat stadium, clubhouse and practice diamonds. The city of Mesa is contributing $84 million as part of the agreement with the Cubs, who had threatened to move to Florida.

The Cubs and White Sox play twice next spring -- March 21 in Glendale and March 27 in Mesa.

Individual game tickets for the 2014 Chicago Cubs home spring training games at Cubs Park will go on sale at 11 a.m. CT on Jan. 11 at the Cubs Park ticket office, on www.cubs.com or by calling 1-800-THE-CUBS.
