New booster group sponsors tip off event for LHS boys basketball

Fans of high school boys basketball have another reason to get excited as the Libertyville High School basketball season nears with the formation of a boys basketball booster club and a special tip-off event Nov. 22.

Organized by a group of parents, alumni, and basketball fans from the community, Wildcats Boys Basketball Association, or WBBA, is starting its first season supporting the boys basketball teams in a variety of ways.

WBBA will mark the beginning of the 2013-14 season by sponsoring a tip-off event in the Libertyville High School gym Friday, Nov. 22. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The event, “Tip-Off Madness,” will mimic college basketball tip-off events and include scrimmages involving freshman, sophomore, and varsity basketball players, as well as other activities for the night.

The event will begin with pizza donated by Jet’s Pizza (quantities limited).

Attendees can participate in shooting contests, win gift card raffles, and a pair of tickets to a Chicago Bulls game. Members of LHS feeder program, the Libertyville Junior Wildcats, will demonstrate their skills in a shootaround. Cheer and pom squads will also perform.

For details, contact co-presidents Jim Borcia or James Quigley at wbba.lhs@gmail.com, like WBBA on Facebook (Wildcats Boys Basketball Association), or visit the LHS website (under Parents tab) to stay abreast of upcoming events.
