Life in this modern Victorian home, set on an acre and a half in Hawthorn Woods' Estates of Indian Creek subdivision, couldn't be better. There is plenty of space, both inside and outside, for family fun and the entertaining of guests -- including the deer, squirrels and other wildlife that populate the wildlife conservancy located just beyond the backyard.

This custom, three-story home, built in 1989 by Chic Martin Signature Homes of Grayslake, features oversized rooms that are perfect for entertaining, as well as meticulous craftsmanship ranging from the interior trim, to the Pella windows and doors, to the fireplaces in the family room and living room.

Chic Martin has been building award-winning homes in communities like Lake Forest, Libertyville, Long Grove, Barrington and South Barrington since 1972.

The main level of this lovely home features a living room, family room, den, kitchen with eating area, dining room and laundry room. The kitchen boasts a ceramic-tile floor, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, pantry and eating area that overlooks the wooded backyard and creek, as well as the conservancy area.

On the second floor there are four bedrooms and baths, as well as a huge game room. There is a separate staircase leading from the kitchen to the game room.

The presence of a third floor, containing a fifth bedroom suite and a loft/office area, made finishing the home's basement unnecessary. There is also a three-car garage and a deck.

Listing agent Margie Cipperoni of Coldwell Banker offers more details about this modern Victorian home:

What is this home's hidden gem?

"The home's hidden gem is the tranquillity you feel when you're in the space. Open the glass doors out to the deck and you will see mature trees and a running creek in your backyard. The conservancy beyond the creek is populated with many varieties of shrubs and foliage nestled under oak, pine, ash and maple trees, to name a few. All you hear is the rustle of the leaves and the steps of the deer that pass by."

What would your perfect buyer look like?

"The perfect buyer will have school-age children to fill the bedrooms and enjoy hours of play in the game room on the second floor. The children will love to explore the acreage along the creek. This is the perfect family home with plenty of space for large holiday gatherings. The buyer for this home will have room to grow; the perfect buyer will have a nice-size family."

What is the best thing about living in this neighborhood?

"The absolute best thing about this neighborhood is the neighbors. They often have block parties as well as other functions that involve everyone. There are about 20 homes on this street and everyone knows and helps each other out. There is definitely a sense of community here!"

What movie can you imagine being filmed here?

"The movie that comes to mind is 'Cheaper by the Dozen.' This is the perfect house for kids, pets, lots of friends and family."

What adjective best describes this home?

"I would use the adjective 'dramatic' to describe this home. This three-story home is set way back from the street and sits on 1 acres. The tree-lined driveway leads to a separate entrance next to the three-car garage. When you retreat to the third-floor loft, you can see over the rooftops of the homes across the street and beyond. The view is quite impressive."
