Aurora police still investigating hit-and-run

Police continue to investigate a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a 56-year-old Aurora man Thursday evening.

Michael Taylor, of the 100 block of West Galena Boulevard, was crossing Broadway Avenue from the area of the Aurora Transportation Center just north of Spring Street in a crosswalk about 6:20 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a southbound car, traffic investigators confirmed after reviewing footage recorded by a company’s security system.

Taylor was taken to an Aurora hospital, then later transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove to receive treatment for apparent head injuries. Authorities say he is expected to survive.

The car, which is described as possibly blue or green, continued south on Broadway, police said.

Video footage appears to show the victim running across Broadway when he was hit. It also appears the driver of the vehicle had a green light, according to the police.

Investigators are attempting to enhance the footage and also are checking other video surveillance systems in the area. At this time, authorities said they have no further details about the suspect or vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police at (630) 256-5330 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
