Pumpkin launch in Vernon Hills

Grab your gourds for a pumpkin launch at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the sled hill on the north end of Century Park, north of Route 60 off Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills.

Register to participate or watch the action for free. The fee is $2 per pumpkin to launch, one pumpkin per paid participant.


Jason Rush from the Vernon Hills High School Science Department built the park district a trebuchet for the event. There also will be other pumpkin-related activities and prizes available for kids and adults.

Launching is limited to the first 50 participants. Visit www.vhparkdistrict.org for more information.
