Anderson: ‘It has always been a goal of mine to complete a marathon’
I have always had a love for running as I competed in high school and college. I experienced a serious injury in high school that went undiagnosed for two years; however, I went on to compete in college (although not an awesome exhibition due to the injury).
I have continued to run off and on throughout the years between career, family and life in general. It has always been a goal of mine to complete a marathon.
When I heard Naperville was hosting its first marathon, I thought it was a great motivation to get my lazy body in gear and participate. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity for my family to spectate; after all, it is practically in our backyard. I joke that my kids could just roll out of bed and come watch me in their pajamas!
I have met so many new friends along the way, and the support of my family and the community is remarkable. I am a physical therapist in the community and my patients have been so supportive and are cheering me on.
I am very excited to be a part of Naperville’s first marathon and have truly enjoyed the journey as I approach the starting line.
