Use money for Obama travel elsewhere

Was surprised but very pleased to find Ken Kitzing's letter on Oct. 19. I don't think many people haven't noticed how you and other papers and news stations played up the Trayvon Martin case. Terry Geike was just the latest to be ignored -- white and a veteran. What's that, two marks against him?

Wonder how all the other parents of murdered children felt watching the circus for weeks -- probably just as angry as the rest of us, more so.

There were several visits to his old neighborhood where President Obama and wife really made the news. Does anyone want to guess what that cost? Planes, cars, Secret Service for them and others. More Secret Service and plenty of our police everywhere they went. Police and others to close off streets, and it goes on.

Think what that money would have paid for. Extra police to work to catch and control the gangs. There is need for that kind of money everywhere.

Now that the show is over, what did our president accomplish? Other than his face on the news and several meaningless statements, how we're going to end all this killing? Is there a politician who hasn't said that?
