Wredling teacher faces child porn charges
A teacher at a St. Charles middle school was charged yesterday with possessing and distributing child pornography, according to district leaders. Jerome "Jerry" McCauley, a seventh grade teacher at Wredling Middle School, has been put on administrative leave pending further investigation. Full story.
Danada Equestrian Center seeks new management
The DuPage County Forest Preserve District is beginning a search for only the third person to ever head the Danada Equestrian Center. The most recent leader, Patricia "Trish" Spiroff, resigned Friday afternoon. She was charged Sept. 23 with attempting to steal from Costco. Full story.
Barrington keeps video gaming ban
Barrington village officials expressed concern last night for how video gambling is regulated by state law and said they'd feel more comfortable standing by the ban for the time being. Most trustees expressed a willingness to revisit the issue at the request of several businesses at a later date. Full story.
Elgin charter school could open in fall 2015
The Elgin Math and Science Charter School Initiative, which was expected to submit an application for a kindergarten through eighth-grade charter school to the Elgin Area School District U-46, likely won't have a formal proposal until fall. Full story.
Manny the Frenchie and his staff
Two-year-old Manny the French bulldog became an Internet sensation after his owners created an Instagram account to share photos of their new pet with family members. Manny now has seven staff members who manage his appearances and events. Full story.
Mundelein seeks land for Hawley Street
Mundelein trustees gave the go-ahead to Village Administrator John Lobaito to negotiate deals with owners of the land along Hawley Street so a long-awaited road project can begin. That authorization included acquiring the land through legal eminent domain proceedings. Full story.
