Three firefighters injured in condo fire near Gurnee

Three firefighters were injured while battling a fire Sunday afternoon at a condo building near Gurnee. Two Gurnee firefighters who were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, as well as a Newport firefighter who was transferred to Vista East in Waukegan, were injured when part of a ceiling collapsed inside the building. Five families were also displaced as a result of the fire. Full story.

One dead, two injured in Kane County crash

One person was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon west of Elburn in unincorporated Kane County. The Kane County sheriff’s department responded to the crash on Route 38 west of Meredith Road about 12:30 p.m., authorities said. According to the initial investigation, a 2012 Ford Focus was traveling east on Route 38, crossed over the center lane and collided head-on with a westbound 2007 BMW SUV. Full story.

1 dead, 1 injured in Zion shooting

A shooting at a party in Zion left one person dead and another injured early Sunday morning, police said. There were reportedly more than 100 older teenagers at the house party when the shooting occurred. Full story.

Bail set at $350,000 for suspect in crash that destroyed townhouses

A Lake County judge set bail at $350,000 yesterday for a Wisconsin man charged with causing a fiery crash early Friday that destroyed two townhouses and significantly damaged another in Hainesville. Adam R. Bileck, 32, of Kenosha, Wis., was charged with aggravated DUI, driving with a revoked license, having no valid driver’s license and leaving a property damage scene. Full story.

Looking at the Bulls season before the opener:

The argument can be made that health is the Bulls’ most important opponent this season, more than the two-time defending champion Miami Heat. So far, it looks like the Bulls are 1-0 in the health department. Both Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrich practiced Sunday, and it appears the Bulls will be at full strength for Tuesday’s season opener in Miami. Mike McGraw reports and has full NBA predictions.
