Family flu vaccine clinics planned in Chicago

CHICAGO — Chicago health officials are launching a series of family-focused events to encourage vaccination to prevent the spread of influenza.

The Chicago Department of Public Health "Family Flu Days" events start Saturday at Kennedy King College and Truman College from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Health professionals will offer free flu shots and there will be activities for families.

The events also will offer help signing up for the new health insurance benefits available under the national health care law. Trained enrollment counselors will be available to help people enroll in a health insurance plan.

Other "Family Flu Days" are scheduled for Nov. 2 at Arturo Velazquez Institute, Daley College and Wright College.

And on Dec. 14, a "Family Flu Days" event is planned for Ford City Mall.
