Hultgren sticking it to seniors

U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren speaks softly but he carries a mighty big stick against people who are seniors or those who hope to be some day. Apparently he wasn’t content enough to be one of the 80 Republicans responsible for shutting down our government in their ideological fervor to defund Obamacare.

Hultgren aligned with only 79 other Congressmen signing The Meadows Letter — a letter to Boehner demanding he use the tactic of denying the “continuing resolution” to fund the government in order to defund Obamacare. Hultgren and this group is singularly responsible for our shutdown.

But Hultgren is using the current shutdown crisis to further his agenda to help out his corporate and financial donors. On Aug. 8, he was the ninth signor with only 50 other congressmen demanding Speaker Boehner use the “current fiscal discussions” (i.e. government shutdown) to “reform” Social Security. It is documented Social Security does not contribute to the national debt, but Hultgren and other right wing conservatives push spin that it does. Changes they are demanding Boehner push would destabilize financial security for millions and millions of Social Security recipients. Shame on him.

I guess Hultgren wasn’t content enough to be one of the 80 Republican representatives to shut down our government; he had to go further to stick it to seniors, too.
