Quinn appoints new director to $121,000 post

SPRINGFIELD — The former director of the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget has been named to a new position with a $30,000 salary bump.

Gov. Pat Quinn named Austin Baidas of Chicago as assistant director of the Department of Central Management Services Friday. Baidas replaces Christine Cegelis and will make about $121,000 a year.

Baidas worked on Quinn’s 2010 gubernatorial campaign. He was named to his post at the department in 2011. He is a former chair of TriMatrix Laboratories, Inc., and a former CEO of Four Seasons Housing.

Quinn last Friday named Simone McNeil to replace Malcolm Weems as chief of CMS. Baidas doesn’t have a listed phone number.

McNeil has been the Democratic governor’s director of operations since 2009. She will earn $142,000.
