Celebrate Halloween at the Chicago Botanic Garden

“Trains, Tricks and Treats” weekend at the Chicago Botanic Garden celebrates Halloween with seasonal activities in the Model Railroad Garden: Landmarks of America, which will be specially decorated for the occasion.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20. The Chicago Botanic Garden is at 1000 Lake-Cook Road, Glencoe.

Visitors are encouraged to wear costumes and stop at five trick-or-treat stations throughout the Model Railroad Garden, festooned with spiders and spider webs, ghosts, goblins and pumpkins.

Those who look carefully will see figurines of trick-or-treaters, bats and crawly creatures, a graveyard, and more tucked into the miniature landscape of America’s favorite landmarks. Autumn-themed plantings will add to the holiday effect.

Event offerings include candy, a planting activity, and some small treasures for children. Tickets will be available at the Model Railroad Garden Ticket Booth upon arrival. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 3-12. Members receive $1 off each ticket. Normal parking fees apply.
