Abby Wambach marries longtime partner

U.S. soccer star Abby Wambach has married her longtime partner and teammate, Sarah Huffman.

The two were married Saturday on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. In a post Wednesday on Twitter, Wambach said, “Sarah and I wanted to thank everyone for all the love and support. We couldn’t be happier. What an amazing week it’s been. #honeymoon”

TMZ first reported the wedding, and said U.S. teammates Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux were among the attendees.

Wambach and Huffman play for the Western New York Flash in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Wambach broke Mia Hamm’s international scoring record this summer, and now has 161 goals in 208 games. Last summer she led the Americans to their third straight Olympic title.

The U.S. women’s next game is Oct. 20 against Australia in San Antonio, Texas.
