Grayslake Cemetery Walk theme looks at those who died prematurely

Several people will be remembered for their untimely deaths during the popular Cemetery Walk sponsored by the Grayslake Historical Society at two performances Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Grayslake Cemetery on Lake Street, just north of Route 120.

Nine costumed actors and actresses, following a script for the Living History Tour, will recall the lives of several people buried in the cemetery in performances at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

There is no admission charge, but donations will be appreciated. Parking will be available in the Westlake Christian Academy parking lot adjacent to the cemetery. Attendees are encouraged to bring umbrellas in case of rain.

Also sponsoring the event is Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium Ltd. Flowers will be provided by The Bloom Room.

For details, call the Grayslake Historical Society at (847) 223-7663.

The first cemetery walk was held in 1998. Past themes have included coffins, epitaphs and tombstone symbols.

Land for the cemetery, which is maintained by the village of Grayslake and the Grayslake Historical Society, was deeded by Lawrence Forvor and his wife, Maria, in 1863.
