On Sept. 7 a wonderful event took place in Carpentersville. Several groups of great volunteers painted the homes and garages of senior citizens, two of whom are veterans. Generous material donations by Habitat of Northern Fox Valley and Home Depot of Schaumburg made this possible.

Lunches for the teams were provided by Culver's, El Sombrito and My Pizza Heaven, all of Carpentersville and Village Squire in West Dundee. The teams were from Oddfellows Lodge #12 in Elgin, PCCR in Carpentersville, Mark Skubak, his family and friends, a couple of Carpentersville firefighters, the village President of Carpentersville and several folks from the Schaumburg Home Depot. Retired carpenter Tom Aufmann of Palatine donated his time to install the donated storm doors.

We want to thank all the great people and businesses that made this event great. We look forward to doing this event again in September 2014.
