Itasca man gets jail, probation for aggravated child porn possession

An Itasca man was sentenced Wednesday to jail and probation for aggravated child pornography possession.

Wayne Noren, 50, pleaded guilty in August and had faced up to seven years in prison. He received 24 months of probation and 180 days of periodic imprisonment under an agreement with prosecutors. He also must register as a sex offender for life.

Noren was charged in June 2012 — the result of a three-month investigation by Carol Stream police, the U.S. Marshals Service and Itasca police. Authorities searched his apartment on the 1700 block of Norwood Avenue and found several photos and videos of girls as young as 4 years old being sexually assaulted, according to court records.

DuPage County Judge Blanche Hill Fawell imposed the agreed upon sentence. Charges alleging Noren, a convicted burglar, also illegally possessed dozens of rounds of ammunition were dismissed.

Noren began serving his jail term Wednesday. He received credit for two days spent in custody after his arrest.
