Ind. psychiatric hospital patient dies after fight
RICHMOND, Ind. — Police have arrested an Indiana psychiatric hospital patient in the death of another patient.
State police say staffers at the Richmond State Hospital found 59-year-old Charles Boyer dead inside his room on Sunday after he was involved in a fight with 30-year-old Daniel Davis.
Police say both patients were housed in the same building but didn’t release any details about the circumstances of the fight. An autopsy was planned to determine what caused Boyer’s death.
Davis is from Indianapolis and is being held on preliminary murder charges at the Wayne County Jail. It wasn’t clear whether he has a defense attorney.
The state-run hospital provides care for a variety of mental illnesses and substance abuse, with space for about 210 patients.
