Hawthorn Woods hosts its fifth annual fall fest from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center, 94 Midlothian Road. Activities include "touch a truck or big vehicle" to include public works trucks and snow plows, police department cars and its Humvee, a Countryside Fire Protection District truck and others. Complimentary refreshments, arts and crafts for kids and free train rides on CN's Little Obie will be provided. Information on village services will be available at booths and participants can enter to win a 2014 aquatic pass. There will be an open swim weather permitting.
