Quinn appoints trustees to SIU, Chicago State
SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Pat Quinn has named new trustees to two Illinois universities.
Quinn on Friday appointed Joel Sambursky of Carbondale to a 5-year term at Southern Illinois University. The former quarterback was inducted into the Saluki Hall of Fame in 2012. Sambursky’s selection comes after the state Senate rejected previous Quinn appointments to the university board. That happened after a power struggle at SIU and a fight over the way the Senate provides advice and consent on appointments
Quinn also appointed Nikki Zollar of Chicago to a 5-year term at Chicago State University. Zollar is president and CEO of Triad Counseling Services Inc. and SafeSpeed. She is the former director of the Illinois Department of Financial regulation.
The governor’s office says both will be reimbursed for expenses.
