Survivor of central Indiana plane crash out of hospital

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The passenger who survived a plane crashing into a central Indiana house has returned home after being hospitalized for more than three weeks.

Sixty-year-old Dennis King of Columbus says he suffered second- and third-degree burns over 14 percent of his body and broken ribs in the July 25 crash. Eighty-one-year-old pilot Gerald Clayton was badly burned and died a week after his kit-built plane crashed into the Columbus house.

King tells WISH-TV that the plane began losing power within minutes of taking off and he didn’t see any way it could miss hitting houses.

King tells WRTV it was a miracle he and Clayton survived the impact and that they would’ve been in good shape if the fire hadn’t started.

A woman who was inside the house wasn’t hurt.
