Will County seats 1st Hispanic judge
Will County added two new judges Wednesday. They are 42-year-old David Carlson of Plainfield and 57-year-old David Garcia of Joliet. Garcia is the county’s first Hispanic judge.
He said in a speech after the swearing-in ceremony that judges are responding to the needs of the Hispanic community.
The two vacancies were created because of a retirement and the addition of judgeship because of Will County’s population growth.
The Herald-News reports that Garcia will be assigned the court’s family division.
