• A resident of the 2N300 block of Beith Road near Elburn bought an iPhone 4 on eBay for $158, took it to a cellphone store July 23 and was told it was reported lost or stolen and had been permanently deactivated, according to a sheriff's report.

• A resident of the 46W600 block of Locust Street near Elburn reported an identity theft after getting an overdue satellite TV bill for $1,076 Tuesday, according to a sheriff's report. The victim closed the account in June 2011, the report said.
