Charges filed against 3 teens in shooting of 4-year-old girl
Cook County prosecutors say three Chicago teenagers have been charged with attempted first-degree murder in the wounding this week of a 4-year-old girl.
Eighteen-year-old Laquan Waters, 17-year-old Tyrese Pearson and a 15-year-old boy were each charged Friday with two counts of attempted murder in the shooting Monday of Khalise Weatherspoon. A 35-year-old man was also wounded.
Witnesses told police two men came out of an alley Monday afternoon and began shooting, wounding the girl as she rode a scooter.
Khalise was shot in the abdomen. Family members say she is walking and will be released soon from Mount Sinai Hospital.
The man, who is unrelated to the girl, was treated at a hospital and released.
Prosecutors say the three shooters are scheduled to appear Saturday in bond court.
