A Kankakee auto mechanic has died after the truck he was working on fell on him.

The Kankakee County sheriff's office says 51-year-old Enrique Serrano died Wednesday afternoon. The Daily Journal reported that Serrano was working under a truck at Acme Auto Parts in Kankakee when the truck fell. Police say it was suspended with an end loader.

Serrano died in the emergency room at a nearby hospital.

Acme owner Mike Baker says the forks on the end loader weren't properly attached. He says he's contacted the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to investigate.

Baker says Serrano worked on-and-off at the repair shop for nine years.
