Wheeling cop collapses during training, dies at hospital

Wheeling Police confirmed that a village police officer collapsed during a training exercise on Thursday and died two days later.

Shamekia Goodwin-Badger, 33, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge on Saturday.

She was transported to the hospital after collapsing during a training event Thursday night and did not regain consciousness.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not have a record of Goodwin-Badger.

The Wheeling Police Department said it would be releasing more details this morning.
