How can I help this homeless woman?

Oh my, was my first thought when I read the leading story in today’s Daily Herald (July 18). In case you missed it, an arsonist took everything from one of our homeless neighbors.

My second thought, “How can I help.” As a Catholic Christian, I’ve heard the story of the good Samaritan for years. Who am I? The priest, the Levite or the good Samaritan? As a resident of this community of Good Neighbors since 1960, I feel we must act as a community to help the homeless among us or remove the motto from our history.

My neighbors and I are in the process of reaching out to this victim. Consider what you can do as well.
