3-year-old boy dies after fall into southern Indiana lake
BIRDSEYE, Ind. — Authorities say a 3-year-old boy died after apparently falling from a boat into a southern Indiana lake.
State conservation officers say the boy from the Scott County community of Deputy had been wearing a lifejacket while swimming in Patoka Lake as several boats were anchored together. Those with the boy told officers that the boy’s lifejacket had been taken off inside the boat for him to warm up and that he was last seen sitting on a cooler along the boat’s edge.
Divers found the boy about an hour after he was noticed missing in the lake about 50 miles northwest of Louisville, Ky.
Officers say the boy was pronounced dead at a hospital. The boy’s name wasn’t immediately released.
