Gurnee firefighters rescue man from burning home

Firefighters are crediting thermal imaging cameras with saving the life of a young man during a residential fire early Sunday morning in Gurnee. "It didn't seem like he was going to make it," said Battalion Chief James Pellitteri. "To get a rescue like that is pretty remarkable. That camera was the difference." Full story.


Warm to start the day with temperatures around 72 degrees. Forecasts for today call for hot and muggy conditions with temperatures cresting at 88 degrees. Temperatures will drop back to 72 degrees later tonight, with a possible thunderstorm possible. Full story.

Fairy-tale finish for 19-year-old Spieth

It's not unusual for golfers to get their first PGA Tour victory at the John Deere Classic. Jordan Spieth became the 19th player in the tourney's 43-year history to do it Sunday. But Spieth's win was different from all the others -- a lot different. Still two weeks away from his 20th birthday, Spieth became the first teenager to win a PGA Tour event in 82 years. Full story.

Sox force extras, lose in 10th

John Mayberry Jr. hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning, lifting the Philadelphia Phillies over the Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Sunday. All three games in the series went extra innings. The teams played a total of 34 innings over 11 hours, 12 minutes. Full story.
