Aurora 88s ready to roll in first bout of season

The Aurora 88s, an all-female flat track roller derby league, is holding the first bout of the 2013 travel season.

On Saturday, July 13, come cheer on your local derby girls as they challenge two visiting down and derby teams at the Aurora Skate Center, 34W113 Montgomery Road, Aurora. First up is Aurora 88s 88 Problems vs. Barbed Wire Betties followed by bout number two the Aurora 88s Original Sin vs. Illinois Valley Vixens.

This doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. Get to the Aurora Skate Center early to grab your seat.

The bravest of spectators can test their will with suicide seating located inches from the track on the skate floor.

Admission for the bout is $10 in advance, and $12 at the door with children 12 and under free.

In addition to derby action, there will be a 50/50 raffle, half-time contests, derby merchandise, vendor tables and an open snack bar. Join in the after party at Two Brothers, 205 N. Broadway in Aurora.
