Wisconsin boy adjusts quickly after lightning strike
WESTON, Wis. — An 8-year-old central Wisconsin boy who survived a lightning strike to the head last month is adjusting well to life back home now that he’s out of the hospital.
A Wausau Daily Herald Media report says Blake Draeger doesn’t harbor fear of lightning and he even enjoyed a recent fireworks show.
Doctors tell the family Blake is expected to suffer any permanent damage. But they’re keeping tabs on his burns, lingering high blood pressure and unusual kidney activity.
Blake says the best part about coming home was the houseful of cheering family, friends and neighbors. He says his family was all there for him.
His father, Chris Draeger, says the family is grateful at his son’s quick progress. He says in nine days Blake went from having a breathing tube to jumping on a trampoline.
