Small barn burns in Winfield

A small barn-like structure caught fire Thursday night in Winfield, and authorities said the cause remained under investigation Friday.

The blaze began about 11 p.m. at a property on the 27W700 block of Roosevelt Road.

Firefighters extinguished the fire about 20 minutes after arriving at the scene, Winfield Lt. David Formento said. But the 12-by-24-foot structure, which held a lawn mower and tractor, was destroyed, he said.

No people or animals were hurt in the fire, Formento said.
